About Me

Hi there!

I’m Miranda, a Clinical Nutritionist with a MS degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport and a board certification from the American Nutrition Association. I’ve also completed a year-long clinical residency program at Dr. Kara Fitzgerald’s Functional Medicine Clinic

I have worked with a wide range of health challenges, including digestive, hormonal and mood imbalances. My passion is to help my clients reconnect with their bodies and empower them to heal and thrive.

And my qualifications to date have equipped me perfectly for this. Here’s how:

The University of Bridgeport has one of the most established Master’s in Nutrition programs in the USA since 1977. It focuses on functional medicine and bio-individuality – two concepts which have equipped me with the skills to create customized diet and nutrient recommendations that are effective and based on scientific evidence. After spending almost 3 years studying the biochemical and physiological role of nutrition in human health, you can rest assured you are in safe hands!

The American Nutrition Association describes the Certified Nutrition Specialist® credential (CNS®) as “the most advanced certification for personalized nutrition practitioners.” As a CNS I practice science-based personalized nutrition therapy for optimal health. To earn the CNS credential I had to complete 1,000 hours of supervised practice, 5 case reports and pass a 200-question board exam. It has put on a clear, practical perspective on everything I learned during my Master’s degree.

The Academy of Culinary Nutrition, founded in 2014, by nutritionist and bestselling author Meghan Telpner, is an online cooking school offering a certification program in culinary nutrition. Becoming a Culinary Nutrition Expert involved quite a bit of recipe testing and meal planning, as imagined! The program has equipped me to also deliver cookings classes and demo workshops on nutrition and culinary strategies for specific conditions. It has literally made me dance in the kitchen!

I’ve also had the unique opportunity to complete my supervised hours at Dr. Kara Fitzgerald’s Functional Medicine Clinic, working alongside not only Dr. Fitzgerald but an entire team of medical and naturopathic doctors as well as other clinical nutritionists. Their functional nutrition residency is an intense 12-month program during which I got hands-on experience in assisting on clinic patient cases and delivering patient care independently, including personalisation of food plans and supplement protocols as well as online client counselling.

My Personal Story

My own health journey began with serious digestive upset for several years before healing herself through food, competing in bodybuilding shows and, later on, rediscovering the power of nutrition in improving my hormonal and gut imbalances.

And it is this personal journey and insatiable curiosity that led me to where I am today – practicing functional nutrition to help achieve optimal health.

I’m also interested in positive and food psychology – after all it is the mind that has the upper hand when it comes to our eating behaviour and other healthy habits. In fact, I am also a certified Life Coach and Neurolinguistics practitioner.

My philosophy is that eating healthy is not about dieting or weight loss – it is about fuelling your body and allowing it to thrive. Through my gentle and well-structured guidance, I can support you on your wellness journey, whether that is to achieve improved digestive health, mental focus, athletic performance or to simply feel better!

There is only one rule in my book – eat real (whole) food!
